10 Photos: Lillydale’s Brand New Digital Learning Campus

Hello Lillydale Digital Learning Campus.

What a milestone! This is our fourth digital learning campus to open doors as part of the “Hazyview Cluster” of digital learning campuses in South Africa’s Mpumalanga province.

Lillydale is part of a group of rural villages and towns that border the western edge of the Greater Kruger National Park.

Hazyview, Justicia and Huntington Digital Learning Campuses are all up and running, and between them, they employ a team of 59 full-time staff and they are already reaching 6,000 students per week.

On 15 August 2018, the first group of primary school children came through the Lillydale Digital Learning Campus’s doors and our team was honored to be able to extend our passion for education technology to this community (children from surrounding schools attend the campus every week where their learning is supplemented with “edtech” focusing on English, math’s and then later, conservation, coding and even robotics).

We keep coming back to the word “collaboration” and we are proud (and thankful) to share the names of our partners at Lillydale Digital Learning Campus: Sabi Sabi Private Game Reserve, Lillydale Literacy Project, Sabi Sand Pfunanani Trust, the Mpumalanga Department of Education and Hlomani High School, David & Evelyn White and the All Heart Fund.

We are proud to present our first 10 photos from Lillydale Digital Learning Campus!

Excited, and ready for what these facilitators are calling "gamification."

It’s all a bit new at first!

Like turning on a tablet for the first time.

But it doesn't take long until we get the hang of it.

And before long we're in our first ever "self organised learning environment" without even knowing it.

Practising addition using an app and then helping our peers get a high score ... yip, we've got the hang of this!
