GWF Week In Edu-Tweets #44

1. Welcome to this week’s compilation of GWF Week In Edu-Tweets, here we will be show casing what happens in and around GWF’s campuses. Our GWF Media Coordinator Accolade Ubisi starts by welcoming you into one of our campuses Hazyview Digital Learning Campus.


2. Last Saturday South African across the country celebrated ‘Heritage Day’ and our team celebrated in style where they each ‘dressed to kill’ in their colourful traditional outfits representing the ethnic group they come from. Here is the ICDL Coordinator Lungile Shabangu showing of  her Isiswati traditional dress. She looked amazing and definitely proudly South African.


3. From Hazyview Media Intern Wiseboy Shabangu, look at the beautiful digital barn; it is  even more beautiful when there is a ‘wonder-filled’ learning session taking place.


4. From Ryan James, the first media elective(Marketing and Storytelling) class was taking place this week and who better to conduct the class than our Media Coordinator Accolade Ubisi. The students had fun during the class and the classes will continue every second Tuesday.


5. GWF CEO Kate Groch finally got our in house photographer Wiseboy Shabangu on camera, something that does often happen often. The CEO has quite an eye and of course she captured a beautiful moment where the team gathered under the tree for a Heritage Day photo.


6. From GWF Media Coordinator Accolade Ubisi, our GWF Gogo Maureen Groch packs some running shoes in her bag. Now we know why she is all strong and energetic. She is a strong Gogo.


7. From Hazyview Media Intern Mpho Lebyane, the best explanation for this moment was explained in the hashtag which reads- #TraditionalButDigital and we love it.


8. From Hazyview Media Intern Wiseboy Shabangu, last Friday the #Jumpstart Programme held their last assessments at Hazyview Digital learning Campus. Sixteen of the alumni students were placed in various retail stores such as Mr price and Spar for skills training and hopefuly permanent positions thereafter.


9. From JDLC Coordinator Linky Nkuna, the Bridging Academy Students did their English presentation preparations during the week for their final one and seem to be improving everyday. Good luck to the students for their final presentation.


10. From Head of Open Learning Academy Crispen Bvumbghe who has been rolling out with charging trolleys filled with tablets that house educational apps with the aim to improve education in rural schools.


11. From Haziview Media Intern Mfumo Thobela, the Media Team was excited to move into a new and creative space. Look out for the amazing stories that are going to come out of this space. As the media team we are very grateful for this amazing space.


12. GWF CEO Kate Groch always says “look around you and be amazed”, well this week Kate was extremely amazed when she discovered that the ICDL facilitator Amukelani Nzobe was also qualified in Human Resources (HR). Amukelani is currently helping the Finance Department with some filling and sorting.


13. From Hazyview Media Intern Mpho Lebyane, the Bridging Academy Students of Hazyview Digital Learning Campus busy getting ready for the workplace. This week, it has been all about compiling CVs and motivational letters. The students were tasked to go write them down at home and share with the class, to help each other edit some errors on the letter.


14. From Hazyview Media Intern Mfumo Thobela, so two of our articles were featured on a local newspaper, the Hazyview Herald. The inspiring story of GWF team member Deliwe Tibane and former Conservation Student Agreement Msume made headlines and we are very proud of the two ladies. keep up the good work and inspire more young women.
