The Digital Impact: GWF’s 2015 in Numbers

Want to know exactly how many students were reached by Good Work Foundation in 2015? Here are the numbers:

  • 54 Madlala Digital Learning Centre (MDLC) adult students graduated with their International Computer Driving Licence (ICDL)
  • 296 Hazyview Digital Learning Campus (HDLC) adult students graduated with their ICDL and English certificates
  • Five graduates were assisted through the GWF Career guidance programme to successfully apply and enrol  for further studying in higher learning institutions
  • 1086 Grade 4 Open Learning children had access to digital education at HDLC, 65% of the learners were girls
  • 1018 Grade 5 Open Learning children had access to digital education at their schools, which was set up by GWF in partnership with Rand Water Foundation
  • 4 Philippolis Digital Learning Campus (PDLC) adult students graduated with their ICDL, achieving a 100% pass rate
  • In a town with an approximate population of 5000 people, an average of 40 children per day attended PDLC Open Learning Academy
  • Six GWF staff enrolled in higher learning institutions to further their studies. Of the six, five are women
  • 147 students completed their hospitality training and eight were accepted to further their hospitality studies at the South African College of Tourism
  • 440 Open Learning children visited the Kruger National Park from May to December 2015 as part of the Conservation Academy. 90% were first time visitors

 

The Open Learning Academy reached out to !086 of Grade four learners from rural Mpumalanga schools.

Hazyview Digital Learning Campus had 296 Bridging Academy graduates in its campus only.

That number of students graduated for both ICDL and Hospitality online studies at HDLC in 2015.

The growth of the GWF team has also been tremendous,from  6 staff members in 2012 to more than 50 members in 2015/2016.
