The Month in Pictures #9

I will never forget the moment that two of our students, Teaman Manzini and Njabulo Mashele, had their photo taken with Nelson Mandela. Granted, it wasn’t the “real” Madiba but it was a hugely significant moment none-the-less. Here were two pink shirts. Two digital trees of knowledge. In Johannesburg. Ready for a challenge.

And that made Madiba smile.

Through consistent determination, hard work, and vision, Teaman and Njabulo were two Good Work Foundation (GWF) students who made it through to the vida e caffè barista training program in Johannesburg as part of a GWF Hospitality Academy initiative.

And now, one day before they were due to begin their training, here they were, standing proudly in front of the father of the nation.

It reminded me that opportunity and success don’t just land in your lap. There’s a long road with many hills. Madiba knew that. And I believe he was smiling at two young men who know that too.

What a moment.

Enjoy the Month in Pictures.
