There is No Place Like Home

Sense of community:

“I have never been to a place where people still live like in the old days where literally, all the community members know each other by name. The people have such a rich sense of community that allows them to care for one another in an amazing way. When there is a problem, we fix it as a community, and where there is work, more than two hands are available,” says Lulani.

Development:

As old as the town is, it is entering the new digital economy by storm. “It is for this reason that I get so excited every time I walk into the Philippolis Digital Learning Campus (PDLC). More and more of the Philippolis young people are getting educated and computer literate each day, giving me more reasons to love my job,” says Lulani who is also a coordinator at PDLC.

Safety:

People can walk around the town at night without any worry. The town is super safe and there are pole lights along the streets that guide people along the way.

Small town life: Philippois is a relatively poor town, with farms as the main source of job creation, which works to a positive advantage for the commuters. They learn farming skills that they use at home as well. They can make their own vegetable gardens and sustain them, as well as keep cattle for milk and meat in their homes. The PDLC team also made a vegetable garden at the campus to help in the soup kitchen  during the winter season.

“Philippolis is such a wonderful place of tranquility where everything operates on its own pace. I grew up in this small town, so it will forever mean the world to me. If one has never been there, one will never understand my love for my home. There is no place like home.”
