GWF WINS PRESTIGIOUS STANDARD BANK TOP WOMEN AWARD

Standard Bank Top Women Award

As a team we are very proud to share that Good Work Foundation is the winner of the prestigious 17th Annual Standard Bank Top Women Award in the Youth Development category.

The Standard Bank Top Women Awards salute those accelerating transformation and creating awareness around women empowerment while also facilitating discussions and workshops around furthering gender empowerment in the country.

Our Founder and CEO, Kate Groch, attended the virtual awards ceremony and accepted the honour on behalf of all the men and women in the GWF team who believe in a more equitable society for all South Africans.

“Life is all about how we show up. We’ve got to look past the limitations that others often put on us because of our backgrounds, our genders and our postal codes. If enough of us do that, we’ll build a safer and fairer network, a network that celebrates our values, our intent, our potential and our future,” said Kate.

With a team of over 130 local people that is consistently made up of at least 75% women, our team at GWF continues to support youth development in rural South Africa.

To date over 1800 adult students have graduated from our learning academies. Many of these students have not had to urbanise and, through the GWF network, have found employment locally in the retail, tourism and IT sectors. We’re also proud to share that at least 70% of these students are made up of young women.

One GWF alumni from the 2019 class said: “Before I came to GWF I had no confidence in myself. I could not make decisions and was not able to tell right from wrong. Studying at GWF helped me find my voice. Now I can stand for myself. I am independent and make my own decisions.”

Following on from this recent accolade, we have also recently been announced as a finalist in the Wharton-QS Reimagine Education Award in the “Nurturing Employability” category. The winner will be announced in December 2020. Hold thumbs for us!
