KATE IS A VISION 2030 DRIVER FOR CHANGE FINALIST!

We are so excited about this nomination for our incredible CEO and Founder Kate Groch as a Vision 2030 Driver for Change at the Vision 2030 Awards 2019.
From her experience teaching at a rural high school in the Free State, Kate was inspired to create GWF and embark on this mission to lead a digitally empowered education model for rural Africa. Her passion for wonder-filled learning sees the eyes of over 7300 young rural South African’s light up as they learn the languages of access: digital, Maths, and English; themselves as holistic and important individuals; and their relationship to their community, their environment, and the world at large.
The Vision 2030 Driver for Change award goes to an individual whom the judges unanimously agree to be a force for change; passionate about national development in line with the NDP, and fully on-board for the journey to 2030. The award winner, from either the public or private sector, will hold the respect of the highest decision-makers at the forefront of development.
Kate, and every single GWF employee, are Drivers for Change. Passionate about the active pursuit of South Africa’s National Development Plan (NDP) goals. GWF fully backs this ambitious and robust plan that aims to eliminate poverty and reduce inequality by 2030. According to the plan, South Africa can realise these goals by drawing on the energies of its people, growing an inclusive economy, building capabilities, enhancing the capacity of the state, and promoting leadership and partnerships throughout society.
The Vision 2030 Awards and Summit itself is an opportunity for enterprises, government organisations, and NGO’s to come together in an effort to bring south Africa closer to achieving the goals set out in the NDP. Vision 2030 aims to make the NDP accessible to all South Africans, and in doing so, stimulate greater private sector participation by using the awards to showcase organisations, like GWF, who are making strides in the name of the NDP.
Over and about our national goals, GWF is actively working towards the UN Sustainable Development goals as well. In particular, we focus on: Goal 1: End Poverty; Goal 4: Quality Education; Goal 5: Gender Equality; and Goal 8: Decent Work & Economic Growth
We’re holding our fingers and toes crossed that our CEO is a winner. But either way, we feel like we’re winning every day having her lead us, and watching young people getting wonder-filled education on the edge of rural South Africa!
