6 PHOTOS: LOCKDOWN DETERMINATION

If we think that lockdown is hard for learners and students living in urban areas, then 10X the effect for rural areas, where access to electricity is a consideration that comes before Wifi, tablets and online learning.
In order to overcome these difficulties, together with our partners, we created Digital Learning Campuses, but then those had to temporarily close too.
Our campuses have reopened under special conditions, but since the beginning of Lockdown (March 26th) we have been amazed by our team and our partners, both doing everything possible to make sure that rural students can STILL LEARN.
Here are six photos. We apologise for the quality, but during lockdown we’ve had to rely on our field photographers who have other jobs over-and-above storytelling.
We’re celebrating access to learning because that’s what we’re all about!
- Crispen Bvumbghe, our GWF School Liaison Officer, introduces the latest learning apps to teachers and principals from the schools that we serve, taking the fear out of technology.
- A Conservation Academy student connects with the spirit of elephant, up close, at Elephant Whispers.
- After hours, GWF staff member, Musa Mokoena prepares manuals for our Hospitality Academy students that would later be dispatched to all of their homes.
- Tablet devices and RAIN data sim cards are delivered to over 80 adult students ensuring that the learning can continue from home.
- A Conservation Academy student learning at home with old and new technology delivered by the team at GWF.
- Some of our Facilitators on one of our first Zoom online classes … figuring it out. But determined.
