We are so proud of these GWF staff and alumni, who are displaying leadership in different but equally profound ways. Refilwe Mokoena, GWF graduate and attorney
Refilwe Mokoena, who has taken her GWF foundational training to the next level, currently works in the State Attorney's office in Nelspruit (Mbombela). Here is her take on leadership:
"My connection to GWF dates back to 2015, when I attended the GWF Computer Programme. It provided me with valuable foundational skills and was an important part of my personal and professional development. I later pursued and completed my LLB degree and am currently working as an assistant state attorney.
"GWF played an important role in shaping my approach to leadership by teaching me the value of discipline, confidence, continuous learning and taking initiative. My experience at GWF went beyond acquiring technical skills. It gave me an environment where I could develop confidence in myself, interact with others and appreciate the importance of using knowledge and opportunities to grow.
"Outside of work, I try to demonstrate leadership in my community by being available to support and guide others, particularly young people who are navigating their education and career journeys. I believe leadership starts with being willing to share knowledge, and encourage others to recognise their potential.
"My own journey from attending the GWF programme in 2015 has taught me the importance of taking opportunities, persevering through challenges and giving back."
