Buy a raffle ticket, change lives: luxury getaways up for grabs at Good Work Foundation and Kolisi Foundation fundraiser

More than R1.5-million worth of prizes, including unforgettable stays at luxury African hotels and five-star safari lodges, will be up for grabs during the annual charity auction and raffle hosted by Steadfast Africa to benefit non-profits the Good Work Foundation and Kolisi Foundation.

The Celebrating Africa’s Best charity auction and summer garden party will be hosted at The Orangery in Holland Park, London, on 18 June 2025. Guests are in for a sumptuous occasion, complete with Moët et Chandon champagne, fine South African wines from Vilafonté and Boschendal, and African-inspired music from Let’s Dance London. Although this is an exclusive invitation-only event, remote bids on the various auction lots are welcome.

Furthermore, anyone around the world can enter an online raffle – with 100% of proceeds going to these two charities, both of which have a strong track record of uplifting rural communities in South Africa. Raffle tickets cost just £5 each and are available here: Steadfast Africa annual charity raffle. Entries for the raffle close at 12 noon SAST on Friday 4 July 2025.

Boutique luxury travel company Steadfast Africa has been hosting this charity fundraiser in London for the past four years, enlisting the help of its extensive network of travel industry contacts to secure donations of attractive prizes ranging from high-end eco-tourism holidays to memorable wildlife encounters.

The event has grown exponentially since its inception – all in support of non-profits doing amazing, life-changing work in grassroots communities while promoting travel with a purpose. This year, auction bidders and raffle ticket holders can snap up exclusive stays at Southern and East African gems such as the One&Only and the Mount Nelson hotels (Cape Town), Angama Amboseli (Kenya), Dulini Anabezi (Zambia), the brand new Masiya’s Camp tented lodge (Greater Kruger), Matetsi Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe), Sambora Kinigi (Rwanda), Eagle Island (Okavango Delta, Botswana) as well as an unforgettable trip on Rovos Rail.

Where luxury travel meets social impact

Last year, the initiative raised R1.2-million for Good Work Foundation and the Kolisi Foundation, enabling them to broaden their impact, and Steadfast Africa managing director Nick Sadleir believes this year’s event proceeds could even surpass that figure.

“Good Work Foundation provides tech-driven education to children around the Kruger National Park, and we also curate trips for clients to lodges in the Kruger – all of which is good for conservation, for wildlife and for the people whose families live and work there. Our clients also have the opportunity to visit the GWF campuses in the vicinity of the game reserves and see the uplifting work they are doing,” he says.

“This is where the intersection of luxury travel and social impact can achieve great things – together, ecotourism and non-profit organisations work hand in hand to better the travel ecosystem, and its ripple effects of job creation and social upliftment, across the continent. It’s not just about raising funds for these organisations, but also encouraging guests to engage with projects directly on their travels, and see this work in action.”

‘Education makes anything possible’

GWF CEO and founder Kate Groch agrees. “At Good Work Foundation, we are passionate about reimagining both education and opportunity for young rural South Africans. We are so grateful to be one of the beneficiaries of Steadfast Africa’s wonder-filled London event. Education is, as we know, a powerful tool for change, and it is through the generosity of partners like Steadfast Africa that we can continue to do our Good Work.”

Gemma Thompson, head of development at GWF, believes that when young people are given the opportunity to access education, “anything is possible. We’ve seen this truth unfold in rural classrooms, computer labs and conversation circles under the trees. The Steadfast Africa London fundraiser helps us reach even more young people with the tools, skills and confidence to shape their own futures, and we are so proud and grateful to be part of it.”

Lauren Budde, strategic partnerships manager at the Kolisi Foundation, says, “This partnership with Steadfast Africa reflects the power of intentional collaboration – where philanthropy, purpose and experience intersect. This exclusive evening is more than a fundraiser; it’s a celebration of shared values and a powerful reminder of how storytelling, travel and social impact can come together to change lives.”

Adds Sadleir, “The pristine landscapes and jaw-dropping wildlife of Africa are unparalleled, but most visitors will say it is the people that make the continent so incredible. Supporting these organisations gives back to the communities directly connected to the landscapes that both we and our clients love so much.”
