Can you share your journey with GWF to date?
Sindiswa: I started as a student in the GWF ICT programme, where I learned the basics of IT. After graduating, I had the opportunity to come back as an intern in 2024. Since then, I’ve been growing my skills and gaining real work experience. Right now, I work as a facilitator at the IT Academy, supporting students and helping them understand various IT concepts.
Cosby: I joined GWF in 2022 as an IT Academy student, where I developed a strong foundation in IT fundamentals. In 2024, I progressed into an ICT facilitator intern role, which allowed me to support and guide other students while strengthening my practical skills. Currently, as an IT Academy facilitator, I am proud to be contributing to both training delivery and student development, helping prepare them for careers in the tech industry.
Tell us about your recent training and the courses you completed.
Sindiswa: I recently completed the IBM Technical Support course and am currently working toward the Google IT Support Certification. These courses are helping me improve my technical skills and stay up to date with industry standards.
Cosby: As part of continuous professional development, I recently completed the IBM Technical Support certificate, which enhanced my knowledge of troubleshooting, system support and IT operations. I am currently enrolled in the Google IT Support Certificate to further strengthen my technical and support skills.
How is the GWF ICT curriculum evolving to keep pace with new technology and digital innovations?
Sindiswa: GWF is updating the curriculum to include modern topics like cloud computing and AI. We are also adding certifications like AWS (Amazon Web Services), CCST (Cisco Certified Support Technician), Network+ and Tech+ through platforms like Coursera. This helps students learn skills that are in demand in today’s job market.
Cosby: The GWF ICT curriculum is continuously updated to align with current industry trends and demands. As part of this evolution, we are preparing to upskill in areas such as cloud computing and artificial intelligence. This ensures that both facilitators and students are equipped with relevant, future-focused skills, particularly to meet the growing need for data centre and digital infrastructure professionals.

What excites you most about working in the IT field?
Sindiswa: IT is always changing, so there is always something new to learn. I also enjoy solving problems and helping others, and IT gives me a chance to do both every day.
Cosby: The constant evolution of technology and the opportunity to continuously learn and grow. The field allows me to solve real-world problems, support others through technology and be part of innovations that shape the future. It is especially rewarding to help students develop skills that can change their lives and open doors to new career opportunities.
