Good Work Foundation is a non-profit education organisation that has pioneered a unique Ecosystem of Learning and Working on the edge of rural Bushbuckridge, one of South Africa’s largest informal economies.
This ecosystem delivers experiential learning programmes to children and adults in locally managed digital learning campuses – five in Mpumalanga and one in the Free State.
The campuses, built to be adaptable to the needs of an emerging 4IR economy, give rural youth access to a world of wonder – spanning everything from English literacy, numeracy and digital skills training to coding, robotics, IT, yoga, mindfulness, conservation and creative arts.
For more than a decade, in areas where the youth unemployment rate soars to over 70%, Good Work Foundation has been reimagining education to bring a sense of discovery and wonder back into the classroom – inspiring young people and igniting hope for the future in an area.
History of Good Work Foundation
Who would have thought that a teacher with a taste for adventure and an audacious vision to reimagine education could rally people around her to transform a dusty, disused banana-packing shed into a high-tech digital learning campus?

Our Ecosystem of Learning and Working
We have pioneered an ecosystem whereby we partner with young people on their journey to becoming well-rounded, employable citizens.
We offer wonder-filled digital education, complementary to the school curriculum, to Grade 3 to Grade 7 learners.
For school-leavers, we offer courses that quite literally “bridge the gap” between high school and the next big step in their lives, as well as vocation-driven training.
Then, we help place graduates at our partner tourism and contact centre establishments – bringing the education journey full circle to meaningful employment!
