Justicia Digital Learning Campus

The Justicia Digital Learning Campus was Good Work Foundation’s first satellite campus in Mpumalanga, opening its doors in 2016. However, its roots can be traced back to 2011, when we initiated computer literacy and English classes at the adjacent Madlala High School. The campus is located in the greater Bushbuckridge area.

History

Justicia is a small rural village with only two primary schools and one high school. The residents enthusiastically support the GWF programmes, encouraging family members to enrol, and are pleased that GWF is contributing to the upliftment of their community.

The Justicia campus partners with the two primary schools in the area for its Open Learning Academy (OLA) programme, whereby Grade 3s and 4s come to campus to supplement their English and Mathematics skills, using computers and tablets. It employs seven OLA facilitators and one OLA coordinator.

The campus’s Bridging Year Academy, which bridges the gap for young people between school and work or further education and training, has an annual enrolment of 70 students and employs four facilitators and one coordinator. A gardener, a cleaner and a campus manager complete Justicia’s staff complement – every one of whom is committed to fostering a love of learning among our rural youth.
